About Us

Ten Wrestling Academy is a private wrestling club founded on the fundamentals of the Big 10 style of wrestling. I have always said I did not create this philosophy for wrestling. I stole it from the people who have taught it to me. The Big 10 way is the Dan Gable way. Every Big 10 school has had or does have influence from Dan Gable. Most Big 10 coaches now have wrestled for him. I wrestled for a 2X Olympian, 1X silver medalist named Russ Hellickson. When Dan and Russ competed internationally, the two were roommates. That is why it is not shocking that the practice rooms at both Ohio State and Iowa look so similar.

 

We at Ten will continue the Big 10 way REGARDLESS of how many kids we have. Our season never ends and the heat in the room is gonna get hotter and I am not just speaking of temperature. This club was made to be small, focused and extremely intense. Ten kids will be tough. We may not have a lot of champs and if we had a dual team we may not win a dual, we are not going to be showcased on ESPN. BUT anyone walking off the mat with a Ten kid will think they just went through a tornado. I see the huge improvements in many already. In time being a Ten kid will mean something. With the right kid and work ethic combined with the Big 10 way, it is a recipe for greatness.
